About Central Asian University

CAU is one of the newer private universities in Uzbekistan, which has opened its higher education sector to private and international institutions in recent years. It has schools in medicine, business and other fields, and aims to attract international students with English-taught programmes. As a newer university, it has a shorter track record than Uzbekistan's state medical universities.

The MD programme

The Medical School describes a six-year MD course. The programme combines:

  • Biomedical subjects: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, histology, microbiology and pharmacology.
  • Clinical disciplines: internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and other specialities.
  • Supervised internships: clinical training in partner hospitals.

Use the current Medical School catalogue to compare details. Ask CAU to confirm in writing the teaching language for clinical training, the hospitals used, and how the 12-month internship is organised.

Important: NMC alert on Uzbekistan

The NMC issued an alert note on Uzbekistan dated 1 April 2026, and the Chirchik branch of Tashkent State Medical University was blacklisted in 2025. Reported names in the 2026 alert include some state medical universities. Before choosing any university in Uzbekistan, read the latest NMC notices on nmc.org.in and ask CAU how its programme meets every condition of the FMGL Regulations 2021.

Why some students consider CAU

  • A private university in Tashkent, a large and modern capital.
  • A six-year MD with supervised internships.
  • Uzbekistan's growing education sector and affordable living costs.

Things to think about carefully

  • A newer university with a shorter record.
  • The NMC alert on Uzbekistan.
  • Confirm clinical training language and hospitals.

How admission works

Apply to CAU's admissions office with your Class 12 documents, passport and NEET scorecard. Ask about any entrance test or interview and the 2027-28 deadline. After admission, the university provides documents for the student visa.

Fees and costs

Ask for the official 2027-28 tuition, accommodation and insurance fees in writing. Living costs in Tashkent are moderate. Add visa, registration, books and travel.

Life in Tashkent

Tashkent is Central Asia's largest city, with a metro known for its decorated stations, wide avenues, parks and bazaars. Uzbek is the official language, and Russian is widely used. Summers are very hot and winters are cold. There are direct flights between Tashkent and Delhi.

Before you apply to Central Asian University

To practise in India later, you need a qualifying NEET-UG result before you join, and the course must meet the NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021: at least 54 months of study, a 12-month internship at the same university, teaching in English and eligibility for a medical licence in Uzbekistan. NMC does not approve or list foreign universities, so ask Central Asian University to confirm these points in writing and read the latest notices on nmc.org.in. After graduating you will need to clear the licensing exam (currently FMGE) and a 12-month internship in India. Our MBBS abroad guide covers eligibility, documents, FMGE preparation and careers in detail.

2027-28 intake timeline

  • October 2026 – January 2027: shortlist Central Asian University and other options, read the official 2027-28 admission rules and check that the course meets the NMC conditions.
  • February – April 2027: register for NEET-UG 2027 and get your passport and documents ready.
  • May 2027: appear for NEET-UG 2027 (NTA will announce the date; recent exams were on the first Sunday of May).
  • June – August 2027: apply to Central Asian University through its official international admissions channel.
  • September – October 2027: admission letter, visa, travel and joining.

Before applying anywhere in Uzbekistan, read the NMC alert note on Uzbekistan dated 1 April 2026 and any later notices on nmc.org.in.
