About VinUniversity

VinUniversity welcomed its first students in 2020. It was set up with strategic academic partners, including Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania, to build programmes to international standards. The campus is in the Vinhomes Ocean Park area of Hanoi, and clinical training links with the Vinmec hospital network. Class sizes are small, and all teaching is in English.

Medical Doctor (MD)

VinUniversity's undergraduate fee page gives six years for the Medical Doctor programme. The curriculum integrates basic sciences with early clinical exposure, and later years focus on clinical rotations. Ask the College of Health Sciences to confirm in writing how the programme meets the NMC conditions, especially the 12-month internship at the same institution and licence eligibility in Vietnam on the same terms as citizens. Clinical work involves Vietnamese-speaking patients, so plan to learn Vietnamese.

Bachelor of Nursing

The Bachelor of Nursing lasts four years, according to the fee page, with clinical practice in hospital settings. Indian citizens who later want to work as nurses in India need Indian Nursing Council equivalency. Students who want to work in other countries should check the registration rules there.

Bachelor of Business Administration

VinUniversity also offers a Bachelor of Business Administration through its College of Business and Management, taught in English, for students interested in management, finance, marketing or entrepreneurship.

Why students consider VinUniversity

  • A modern campus and English-taught programmes developed with international partners.
  • Small classes and close contact with teaching staff.
  • Access to a private hospital network for clinical training.
  • Scholarships offered to many students.

Things to think about

  • A young university with a short record of medical graduates.
  • Admission is selective, with the university's own tests and interviews.
  • Fees are high compared with state universities in the region; ask about scholarships.

How admission works

VinUniversity runs its own admission process with academic records, English proof, the university's assessments and interviews. Deadlines for international applicants can be early in the year, so contact the admissions office by January 2027 for the 2027-28 intake.

Fees and costs

The university publishes an undergraduate fee page with the duration and fee for each programme. Ask for the 2027-28 fee and scholarship options in writing. Add accommodation, food, insurance, visa and travel.

Life in Hanoi

Hanoi is Vietnam's capital, known for its lakes, old quarter, street food and fast-growing modern districts. Living costs are moderate. Vietnamese is the main language, and English is common among young people. Winters are cool and summers are hot and humid. There are direct flights between Hanoi and Indian cities.

Before you apply to VinUniversity

To practise in India later, you need a qualifying NEET-UG result before you join, and the course must meet the NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021: at least 54 months of study, a 12-month internship at the same university, teaching in English and eligibility for a medical licence in Vietnam. NMC does not approve or list foreign universities, so ask VinUniversity to confirm these points in writing and read the latest notices on nmc.org.in. After graduating you will need to clear the licensing exam (currently FMGE) and a 12-month internship in India. Our MBBS abroad guide covers eligibility, documents, FMGE preparation and careers in detail.

2027-28 intake timeline

  • October 2026 – January 2027: shortlist VinUniversity and other options, read the official 2027-28 admission rules and check that the course meets the NMC conditions.
  • February – April 2027: register for NEET-UG 2027 and get your passport and documents ready.
  • May 2027: appear for NEET-UG 2027 (NTA will announce the date; recent exams were on the first Sunday of May).
  • Spring – summer 2027 (check the university's own deadlines, which may be earlier): apply to VinUniversity through its official international admissions channel.
  • August – September 2027: admission letter, visa, travel and joining.

Private universities in Vietnam often run their own admission tests and interviews early in the year, so contact the admissions office by January 2027.
