About AUA

AUA was founded in 1991, the year Armenia became independent, with support from the Armenian General Benevolent Union and the University of California, with which it is affiliated. It follows an American-style education system and teaches in English. It offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in business, engineering, public health, law, and social sciences.

The AUA MBA

AUA's graduate admissions page describes an MBA lasting 18 to 22 months, with classes held on three or four evenings each week. This format is designed for working professionals. The curriculum covers core business subjects such as accounting, finance, marketing, operations, strategy and leadership, with electives and a final project.

Because classes are in the evening, check how the format fits your work and your visa plans. If you are moving to Armenia only to study, ask AUA whether the programme supports a student residence permit.

AUA's BA in Business is a separate undergraduate qualification; it is not an MBA.

Why applicants consider AUA

  • An American-style university with an English-taught MBA.
  • Affiliation with the University of California.
  • Evening classes that allow you to work.
  • Yerevan is safe, friendly and affordable.

Things to think about

  • The programme is designed around working professionals.
  • Armenia's job market is small, and most local jobs need Armenian or Russian.
  • Check the residence permit route for international students.

How to apply

Apply through AUA's graduate admissions with your bachelor's degree, transcripts, CV, English test scores, references and statement of purpose. Ask about any admission test, interview and the 2027-28 deadlines.

Fees and costs

Ask AUA for the 2027-28 MBA tuition and any financial aid. Living costs in Yerevan are moderate. Add accommodation, insurance, residence permit and travel.

Life in Yerevan

Yerevan is Armenia's capital, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with Mount Ararat on the horizon. It is compact, walkable and safe, with cafés, museums and parks. AUA's campus is in central Yerevan. Winters are cold and summers are hot and dry.

Is this MBA right for you?

The AUA MBA suits working professionals who live in Armenia or can relocate there, who want an American-style, English-taught degree and can attend evening classes for about two years. It is less suited to someone who wants a one-year, full-time programme with an internship abroad. If you are early in your career, ask AUA whether its other graduate programmes fit you better, and compare the total cost with good MBA options in India.

Careers after an MBA in Armenia

Armenia's economy has growing technology, IT services, tourism and finance sectors, and Yerevan has a lively start-up scene. Many international companies run development centres there. However, most local jobs require Armenian or Russian, and work permits are needed for foreigners. Many Indian graduates use an MBA from Armenia to move up in their current company, to work with firms in the region, or to return to India with international experience. Build your network with classmates, faculty and alumni from the first month, and take part in company projects and competitions.
